Problems

While the gaming sector continues to experience significant growth, there are a number of problems that prevent much greater adoption. These include but are not limited to:

  • Forking chains resulting in duplicate versions of NFTs;

  • Environmental issues (carbon footprint);

  • High gas fees and slow transactions prevent mass adoption;

  • Most cryptocurrency games are available only to crypto natives;

  • Initial investment in NFTs required (pay-to-earn);

  • Security and trust anxiety - especially for non-crypto natives;

  • Poor user retention;

  • High volatility in payments to players;

  • The creation of large numbers of NFTs leads to compromised character aesthetics.
